Has anyone ever asked you, “What is hummus?” Have you sat there stunned, unsure how to answer the question? Fear no more. Hummus is very easy to explain.
When someone asks you, “What is hummus?”, simply answer by saying that it is a smooth creamy mixture made from pureed chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans. It often is blended with other ingredients for additional flavor. It is a protein-filled concoction that has been used for centuries in Mediterranean cultures to spice up main dishes and appetizers and act as a delicious dip for vegetables and pita chips.
So the next time someone in casual conversation asks you, “What is hummus?”, you now have a simply worded explanation to give them. It may inspire them to try it out for the first time. It may do the same for you too, if you have not yet had the pleasure.
