How Can You Draw Patrons to Your Church?

Pulpits

It can be a trial getting people to go to church, especially if you make your patrons stand the same way early church goers did for at least 1,000 years. Church goers want to worship, but they also want to be comfortable while they are doing it. Keep people in your church with adequate seating, and plenty of church pews. What do your patrons expect when they walk into your church?

A Welcoming Atmosphere

For over three hundred years, openly practicing Christianity was unlawful. That meant that few people took the risk of building churches. Today, people all over the country enjoy religious freedoms. People are free to practice any religion and, in most cases, they can do it wherever they want. Christian churches draw patrons by making the spaces respectful, religious sanctuaries. Most churches and cathedrals are shaped liked crosses, or have cruciform designs, welcoming religion and religious symbolism inside and out. What else do worshipers expect?

A Comfortable Place to Practice Religion

Early church goers stood, and walked around greeting other members during church. Long sermons brought out the practical side of congregations. During the Protestant Reformation, Protestants started adopting sermons at the heart of their services. This model spread quickly, and churchpews and church furniture have been an integral part of services ever since. Owners can keep their churches welcoming and comfortable, by picking the best church pews for sale.

Priests and clergy welcome people admiring church steeples but, at the end of the day, the goal is to get people inside. Keep your church reverential and welcoming, with appropriate symbolism and comfortable churchpews.

  • i haven’t been to church in a while, but standing through an entire sermon sounds brutal. I know my mother’s done it, but I feel like I’d be eyeing anyone who so much as got up to go to the bathroom and trying to ‘subtly’ take their seat…

  • Well, it’s not very Christian to steal someone’s seat while they’re in the bathroom. 😉 Maybe that’s another plus– preventing any animosity among church members. Kidding. …at least I hope! my church has plenty of pews, so i don’t worry too much
