Chrysler Fiat Partners With NBCUniversal to Roll Out Minivan Campaign Featuring Man’s Best Friend
As part of their second wave of marketing for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles launched a new commercial during the “Today” show that puts man’s best friend front and center — or in the backseat, rather.
In a partnership with NBCUniversal, the commercial features “Late Night” host Seth Meyers and his Italian Greyhound, Frisbee, as well as a segment of the movie trailer “The Secret Life of Pets” to help promote the vehicle.
More than 46 million households in the U.S. have dogs, and another approximately 38 million have cats; “The Secret Life of Pets” is a digitally animated film that shows us exactly what happens after we say goodbye to our furry companions and close our doors each day. “The Secret Life of Pets” debuts in July and is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
“We are excited that we are marrying what we believe to be a big cultural hit for this summer with the power of NBC new portfolio to really give the Chrysler Pacifica mass reach for their top priority launch,” said Alison Tarrant, executive vice president of client partnerships for NBCUniversal.
The partnership is considered one of the deepest that is has ever struck with an advertiser. According to freep.com, the ads will not only air on NBC’s networks but also on BuzzFeed and Vox Media.
And just like “The Secret Life of Pets” is projected to be one of the most successful movies of the year, the Pacifica is the Detroit automaker’s most important vehicle of the year. The Pacifica effectively replaces the Chrysler Town and County minivan, a mainstay and staple for soccer moms across the country since its inception in 1989.
According to Detroitnews.com, Fiat Chrysler spent billions to retool the Pacifica, which now fits into the crossover category.
