Company gives new roof to homeless charity

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNmlxn5pLOs

Roof repair can be expensive for anybody, but especially for a charity. And it can be even more difficult for that charity to spend money on itself, money that its volunteers know could go toward helping others. So oftentimes, a charity will put itself and its own needs last while providing for those they believe needs it more. This is the case in this video, with New Mexico charity Project Share and their roof that hadn’t been repaired in over thirty years.

When Project Share’s roof started leaking due to recent heavy rains, they found that it interfered significantly with their ability to perform their mission of feeding the homeless. The charity provides dinners in their building and the water leaking in through the damaged roof caused major problems during these dinners. Thankfully, a local business decided to repay Project Share for all the work they’ve done over the years. A construction company based out of Albuquerque donated a whole new roof to Project Share, providing the labor and materials needed to create it. With this new roof, Project Share was able to continue its mission of feeding the homeless, this time in more comfortable settings. And, of course, the grateful volunteers at Project Share also provided lunch for the construction crew.

Roof repair is an expensive, often time-consuming process. Like Project Share, many buildings go decades without any sort of repairs done on their roof. This can lead to small problems getting worse and worse, eventually resulting in the need to replace the roof entirely. A leaking roof also allows water into the building, increasing the risk of mold, rot, and water damage throughout the interior. Without a solid roof, many things in the building become near impossible to accomplish. And yet, the cost of repairs still keeps some from getting the roof fixed.

The donation of the roof to Project Share was a result of luck and years of goodwill in the community. While they were lucky that there was a local construction company with the means and motivation to provide them with a new roof while they were in need, their own behavior and compassion for others are what inspired the donation in the first place. Project Share has devoted its time and resources to help those who can’t help themselves in Albuquerque. Ambien is addictive. Sudden discontinuation of the drug after several weeks of continuous use can cause an abstinence effect. Consult your doctor about the http://www.lbwr.org/ambien/ safe use of this drug. Other side effects may occur even if not described in the manual. Any unusual side effects, especially those that cause you concerns, should be reported to your doctor. So when it was their turn to need help, community members who had seen their work over the years stepped in to take care of them.

15 Safe Outdoor Activities During Quarantine

    safe outdoor activities

The coronavirus pandemic has hit every country in the world and has now affected almost every single aspect of our lives for the past couple of months. Being a deadly, highly contagious new virus, and a sheer nightmare to deal with while sick, the virus has each of us on our toes and taking more precautions than usual. Besides washing hands often, wearing masks while going out, and staying at least 6 feet away from one another, we have also heard experts warn of staying indoors and not traveling unless for essential activities.

Though it might seem like staying indoors is easy, it’s far from it, and has caused masses of people to feel an increase in depression, anxiety, and loneliness. The inability to spend sufficient time outdoors has serious effects on our mood, not to mention our ability to maintain a healthy weight through the use of exercise. In fact, spending just 20 minutes outdoors daily can help make you feel happier. With the virus now at an all-time high, is there any way to do safe outdoor activities with less worry? Absolutely!

    Risks

Though doing safe outdoor activities can help provide you with emotional and physical relief, it’s important to note that being outside during this pandemic is exposing you, nonetheless, to the possibility of getting and spreading the coronavirus. When looking for safe outdoor activities to engage in, it’s important to not let your guard down, no matter how “safe” you may feel. Wearing your mask, carrying a bottle of hand sanitizer, and ensuring you’re taking all proper precautions to social distance from others is important. In addition, staying home when you feel ill, and have symptoms of the virus can also greatly help in spreading the virus. These symptoms include a dry cough, fever, trouble breathing, and even diarrhea.

    Check Local Mandates

As we mentioned, being outside and doing outdoor activities still exposes you to the possibility of being exposed to the virus. Because of this, many cities and counties have implemented different protocols you must follow when outside. For instance, some cities will not only ask you nicely to wear your mask, but also fine you anywhere from 100 to 200 dollars if seen without one in public. Others will allow you to be on beaches and in parks only if moving around and exercising, and not just lounging. In addition, due to ongoing riots during the pandemic, other cities might be implementing curfews to keep you from being outside past a certain time. It’s important when looking for safe outdoor activities to keep these restrictions in mind and plan accordingly. If you’re looking on ideas for safe outdoor activities, look no further than this list of 15 safe outdoor activities you can do now during the pandemic. Get inspired to get out there, and check your local press releases for updated information on outdoor restrictions.

    1. Outdoor Farmer’s Market

Farmers markets are a great way to safely shop outdoors during the pandemic. Shopping at markets indoors exposes you to a high volume of people, recycled air, and long lines. Farmer’s markets provide fresh fruits and veggies, dairy, and other products such as honey, and so much more. Check your local city’s farmer’s market schedule, and plan a shopping trip today!

    2. Take a Drive

If you’re unsure about spending time around people, but still want to be outside, taking a drive is a great option to get outside while still keeping a safe area around you. Drive to the nearest beach, or down that highway, you always daydream in. Used cars are still available even now, as dealerships have remained open. Consider getting a car with a sunroof to enjoy the most of your outdoor drives.

    3. Go Fishing

Safe outdoor activities can be incredibly relaxing, and fishing is no exception. Boat rentals can allow you to rent out a small boat for the day and take it on the lake for fishing. The great thing about being in your own boat is that you’re almost guaranteed to be six feet away from anyone else on the water. Be aware that different states require different requirements for fishing, such as a license, so keep this in mind while making your fishing plans and reservations.

    4. Go Kayaking

As we mentioned earlier, some states have deemed exercise as part of the safe outdoor activities that can be done with less restrictions. As such, kayaking rentals are still available, and you can have a blast on the water while also toning your arms and legs. Not too shabby!

    5. Renovate your Backyard

Safe Outdoor Activities don’t just have to be done outside the home. Consider setting up some new wood fencing, planting some new flower beds, or even growing new veggies in your backyard. Not only is gardening a relaxing past-time, it also helps, in some cases, to increase the resale value of your home. Take time during the pandemic to start renovating your backyard, and seeing just how beautiful it can become.

    6. Renovate your Garage

Renovating your garage can be a great way to get into a new hobby, carpentry, or simply just pass the time with a new hobby. Garage door companies are still open for business, as are other contractors, and can offer services while wearing proper masks and social distancing. Consider giving your garage a makeover in order to make the most of it as a work space, and even as a relaxation zone.

    7. Go for a Boat Ride

Not one for fishing all day in still water? Not a problem! Boat rentals are still available, and renting a speed boat can give you a thrill and help take you out of the quarantine gloom. You will still need a proper boating license, and also should not drive a boat while intoxicated. If you do, consider getting the help of a boating accident lawyer in the event of an accident to keep you from ruining your summer.

    8. Biking

The above-mentioned boating can be exciting when out on the water. But what if you don’t know the basics of driving a boat? Navigating? Tying knots and mooring? Ground fault protection for boats? Is there any other activity that can give you the thrill of speed while remaining on the list of safe outdoor activities? Absolutely! Biking is a great way to get outside, exercise, and even get an adrenaline rush of speed when using a good-quality bike. Remember to still wear a mask when around others, practice rules of the road, and bike the summer away.

    9. Jogging

Lace up and go out for a good old-fashioned jog if you’re not one for biking. Jogging is so simple, easily done, and anyone can participate in it now during the shutdown! Jogging is one of the best safe outdoor activities to keep you active and healthy during the quarantine. Like in biking, wear a mask when outside, and consider going for a speed-walk and working your way up to a jog.

    10. Camping

Though some camping centers around you might be closed, more and more natural parks are now starting to open up with proper social distancing measures in place. Take your old RV out of RV storage, put the family in, and get away on a mini-camping trip to your local park or even down to the beach near a bonfire. Ensure you have your RV tuned up, have RV roadside assistance if need be, and make the most of these isolating times by isolating in nature for a relaxing mini-getaway.

    11. Hiking

Like with all other safe outdoor activities, hiking is regulated differently by state, cities and counties. However, for the most part, hiking is now a doable outdoor activity so long as you keep a good distance away from other parties you encounter during your hike. As well as staying away from other hiking groups, it is also recommended you hike in no more than of parties of 10, and in some places even as little as 2 people. In any case, make the most of your hiking experience and bring adequate food, water, sanitizer, masks, and keep in mind the allergy season among us.

    12. Golfing

This time we have off work is a great way to pick up new outdoor skills. Why not learn to play golf? Golf has long been seen as a way to relax, network, and meet other players while enjoying the beauty of man-made landscapes and mother nature. Though it’s not a good idea to play closely with other golfers, you can still go to a golf course and shoot holes yourself, perfect your stance, and refine your techniques. Buy your own golfing gear, gloves, and dress adequately for the weather. Sanitize any shared items such as golf carts. There is currently no statewide ban on golf courses during the pandemic, but this can quickly change, so be sure to check on your city’s website for updates.

    safe outdoor activities

    13. Surfing

Beaches are teeming with city-goers looking to get away from the summer heat, but unfortunately, this has had negative consequences. Spikes in numbers of COVID-19 cases have resulted from people lingering on the beach and being in close contact while not wearing masks. For this reason, most cities have now banned non-exercise activities such as grilling, sun-bathing, and lounging on the beaches. However, solo exercise sports such as kayaking, running, and even surfing are considered safe outdoor activities that can be done with no restrictions so long as you are properly socially distancing! If you live for the waves, don’t be afraid to continue surfing and riding those summer waves. Again, check with your local county or city for the most up-to-date information on spending time at the beach.

    14. Yoga

In popular cities such as Long Beach, California, outdoor yoga classes are still in session, with people spacing their yoga mats six feet apart and ensuring maximum social distancing. In these anxious times, yoga and meditation can prove incredibly beneficial, relaxing, and therapeutic to calm the anxious mind. Yoga is still considered an exercise, but gatherings of large groups of people might pose an issue. Even if you are not able to join a yoga group in your city, take your yoga mat outside and do some exercises on your front or back yard.

    15. Outdoor Photography

Taking a walk is a safe outdoor activity you can be sure to enjoy even during the pandemic. During your walk, why not take a camera along and take pictures of the scenery? Enjoy what the landscapers did to the new home on the neighborhood? Love the way the trees frame your street? Doing photography can help you feel more grounded and mindful, reducing anxiety, while at the same time producing beautiful artwork that you can even turn into a source of income. Use your phone, an old Kodak camera, a Polaroid, whatever you have on hand, and get out there and start taking pictures!

    Remaining Positive

    safe outdoor activities

Constant reminders of the coronavirus are everywhere, and it can be difficult to get your mind right and focused while trying to remain positive. It’s important to remain careful, mindful, and hopeful about the future, and continue to make efforts to go outside as much as possible. When you order a large package of medicine for the https://shlclubhouse.org/pharmacy-online/ entire planned treatment period at once, you can get a discount, a coupon code for the next order, or use the services of the postal service for free. Even short amounts of exercise and time outside can greatly reduce the stress that the pandemic has caused. Continue to monitor for updates via your city’s website, and know that with the proper precautions, masks, hand-washing, and social distancing, safe outdoor activities can be fun and less risky. Be creative, make an effort, and continue to make the most of your quarantine situation during the pandemic. Remember, this too shall pass.

  • Aquatic Activities For The Whole Family

Aquatic Activities For The Whole Family

When summertime comes, it’s hard not to have fun around the water. It’s estimated that most Americans live less than two miles from a body of water and there really is no shortage of fun aquatic activities people of all ages people can partake in. Whether you’re kayaking, boating, fishing, swimming, diving, or even collecting rocks, the possibilities for fun in and around the water are endless.

Even if you’re an avid fisherman on your local lakes or you love going to the beach for a swim, the thought has probably crossed your mind a time or two about ways you can enjoy water activities at home. Fortunately, there are a lot of ways you can do that, whether you live right on the water or even within a short distance.

    Put In A Pool

When it comes to fun aquatic activities, it doesn’t get much more fun than having a pool right in your own backyard. The key is finding which pool is best for you and your family. If you’re pool shopping, you’re going to find two popular options: an above ground pool and an inground pool.

An inground pool is just what it sounds like: a pool built into the ground. They’re typically made of concrete or fiberglass and are a major investment since they are more permanent. Above ground pool are obviously pools above the ground and are a lot quicker to install.

So which one is best for your family? It depends on what you want. If you want something installed quickly, an above ground pool is a great option and there are lots of benefits:

    • It can be installed quickly
    • There are lots of different layouts available
    • They’re very affordable
    • They’re very easy to maintain
    • They’re very safe, which is a plus if you have young kids
    • You can install them yourself, if you’re somewhat handy

On the flip side, you have plenty of advantages with an inground pool.

    • The biggest advantage you have is that an in-ground pool has more permanency
    • They can withstand the elements in a variety of climates
    • Even if you don’t live an extravagant lifestyle, having an inground pool can add a certain degree of elegance to your home
    • There’s plenty of flexibility in the design of an inground pool

Regardless of which style of pool you choose, take some time to do some research before making any rash decisions. If you’re unsure of what’s going to work in your yard, consult some local pool swimming pool services. They’ll not only be able to give you some design ideas, but they’ll also be able to give you estimates and when all the I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed, they’ll be able to install your pool for you.

    Enjoy Your Pool

When you pool is finally installed, it’s important to make the most of it. When the sun is out and the weather is hot, get outside and enjoy your pool.

With a pool in your backyard, you can swim to your heart’s content, but a pool can be so much more than that:

    A Gathering Place

Your pool can be the ultimate spot to really soak up some quality time with your family. Think about it: if you and your significant other are constantly working and your kids are busy with school and activities, you probably don’t get to see as much of each other as you would like. That’s where your pool can become the family hangout spot for aquatic activities, but as a complement to things like picnics and bonfires.

    Better Home Value

Adding a pool can also boost your home value. A pool can become a unique selling point, especially if you are able to customize your backyard by adding things like a fire pit or outside lighting.

    Improving Your Health

Of course, a pool is great for aquatic activities like swimming, but a pool can also contribute to some amazing health benefits. By swimming regularly, you can have improved sleep, reduce your stress, better maintain your weight, and feel better overall. Helping Your Special Needs Child

Believe it or not, having a pool can be great for kids with special needs. If you are raising a child with Down syndrome, you can introduce them to swimming by teaching them how to swim. Offering them swimming lessons has many benefits because swimming improves their strength, builds their confidence and coordination, and enhances their functional skills. If you’re teaching them to swim or introducing them to different aquatic activities, have swim aids or flotation devices ready to provide support and stability.

    Simple Fun

If you’re a parent, you’ve likely seen your kids’ faces buried in their phones or mesmerized by the TV. If you’re looking to pull them away from screens for a while, a pool is a perfect way to do it. When the weather is hot and muggy, there’s no better feeling than jumping in a pool and cooling off. Even if it’s for a half an hour, get your kids outside and in the pool.

If they’re having fun, they’re going to forget all about their phones and TVs for a while. You can play games in the pool such as Marco Polo and volleyball. You can even have a cannonball contest or have your kids make up their own games. Before they know it, they’ll have easily spent a couple of hours outside with no thoughts given to their electronics.

    Buy A Boat

Another way to really enjoy the water and aquatic activities like diving, swimming, and fishing is to buy yourself a boat. But, truth be told, there are a lot of different kinds of boats for sale and you might find yourself doing a lot of window shopping as you try to select the right one.

If you’re looking for the perfect sort of family boat, it’s a good idea to get a pontoon boat. Pontoons are popular from coast to coast with families and those looking for nice leisurely rides around the lake. Benefits of pontoons include:

    • Storage: Compared to speedboats or some kinds of fishing boats, pontoons have loads of storage space. It’s not uncommon to find storage space under seats and in the floors, to say nothing of the typical compartments that are available. This will give you room for lifejackets, food, water, inner tubes, medical supplies, and just about anything else you need. The storage also extends to people since pontoons can fit 8-10 people easily.
    • Easy boating: If you’re a first-time boat owner, a pontoon is a great first boat to have. It’s easy to maintain and you won’t need to worry about updating anything every 2-3 years. They’re also very easy to drive and dock.
    • Safety: Pontoons are difficult to tip and difficult to flip, so they’re considered very safe and are less expensive to insure because they are considered safe.
    • Customization: It’s true that pontoons don’t need to be updated much, but you can definitely make them your own. You can add more seating, a speaker system, lighting, or even water toys like tubes or slides to advance the fun of such aquatic activities.
    • The do-it-all boat: It doesn’t matter if you’re fishing, swimming, tubing, or even just entertaining family or friends, the pontoon is perfect for any occasion.

If you’ve looked around and found a boat that suits you and your family, one of your local boat dealers can help everything come together. Your boat dealer can discuss the financial particulars, give you a rundown on the ins-and-outs of your boat and make sure you’re outfitted with everything you need to popularly run and enjoy your boat.

    Build A Dock

When you think of lakefront homes, there aren’t too many aquatic activities more fun than being able to jump off your own dock and go swimming.

If you’re a fisherman, wouldn’t you love to have your own spot to come and go, where you know your boat is safe and where you won’t have to pay docking fees at a marina?

It’s estimated that the average homeowner plans to spend a little more than $10,000 on a home renovation project. Obviously dock installation is not a home renovation, but it’s important all the same because it’s a component of your backyard.

What you’ll pay for a dock really depends on what kind of dock you install and what materials you use. A standard sized dock may run anywhere from $10,000-$30,000 and more expensive dock installations can run as much as $50,000.

Before you start buying supplies, it’s essential that you clear the area where the dock will be installed. If you need to call tree services to clear some trees out of the way, do so. If you need to do any more work, you might want to place a call to local landscaping companies to help.

Now that you’ve got the area cleared, you’re probably wondering what kind of dock you need. Ultimately, you’re looking for one that’s going to last and be easy to maintain. Much like pools, docks can be installed to be permanent or semi-permanent (removable).

As removable docks go, options include:

    Floating Docks

A floating dock is a big platform that floats on the surface of the water. They’re very adaptable because they rise and fall with the water level and are practical because they don’t do any damage to sediment. In certain areas, they can remain in the water year-round, provided they aren’t pushed by currents.

    Piling Docks

These docks are constructed by putting wooden pilings in the water and attaching a dock with rollers to the pilings. For bigger boats or fishing boats, these are ideal because they are strong, especially against currents. One drawback is that they can take a lot to maintain and don’t adjust to changing water levels.

    Pipe Docks

These are very similar to piling docks, but the big difference is that they are less stable because they are built with an aluminum frame. They’re easy to build and cost-effective, so you can easily partake in aquatic activities like fishing and diving. But they need to be removed at the end of the season.

If you’re to stock up on boat decking hardware supplies such as wood or aluminum or even plastic and build something more permanent—perhaps for your new pontoon—you have two main options:

    Suspension Docks

These are installed to hang over water and care suspended with anchorage posts and cables. But they can be costly to install.

    Crib Docks

These docks are made by anchoring a frame to the bottom of the lakebed, filling them with rocks, and then covering that frame with decking. The main active substance of https://sdarcwellness.com/generic-cialis-online/ Cialis is Sildenafil. Crib docks are strong and stable, but expensive to install. Essentially, crib docks are an extension of shoreline and can affect the flow of water, as well as affecting wildlife.

No matter what kind of dock you end up installing, using the services of local docking companies will ensure that your dock is put in properly and removed properly (assuming you have a removable one installed).

You’ll also want to look into financing options. You can talk to local bankers or insurance companies about taking out construction loans to get your dock up and running. As previously mentioned, docks—no matter which one you install—aren’t cheap and you’re going to need capital to get a dock up in your backyard.

Making The Most Of Time On The Water

Whether you put in your own dock for your backyard or you put in a pool, either way you’re opening the door for many hours of enjoyment. Whether you feel like swimming laps or sitting on a tube to read a book or diving off a dock, the possibilities are endless when it comes to fun. There are numerous aquatic activities that you can do at home or at a beach and the only limit to the fun you have may just be your imagination.
